  • Energy impacts on water, and
  • Production of renewable and otherenergy resources by the water sector.

It also includes consideration of the net societal and economic costs and benefits of both resources when selecting any particular water or energy option. At a policy level, California considers the scope of its water-energy nexus to include climate-related impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions.
